K. Paul Johnson
About
Paul Johnson is a founding partner of Johnson Kraeuter & Sanders, LLC, where his practice is dedicated exclusively to family law litigation. Licensed to practice law in Georgia since 1996, Paul has spent over three decades helping clients navigate divorce, custody, equitable division, and other complex domestic relations matters. He is also a Registered Neutral in Georgia, bringing skilled mediation and dispute-resolution experience to his practice.
Paul has tried hundreds of bench and jury trials and has briefed and argued numerous appeals before the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals, resulting in numerous reported appellate decisions, including Blige v. Blige, Sharpe v. Perkins, Entrekin v. Friedman, and Winchell v. Winchell. His courtroom experience in high-asset divorce and complex equitable division cases has made him one of the most sought-after family law litigators and speakers in the state.
Paul has played a defining role in shaping family law policy and practice in Georgia. He served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia (2010–2011), after previously serving as the Section's Vice-Chair and Secretary/Treasurer, and chaired the Electronic Worksheets Task Force of the State of Georgia Child Support Guidelines Commission. He has also served the Savannah Bar Association in numerous capacities over more than two decades, including as President in 2022, following earlier service as President of its Younger Lawyers Division.
For over thirty years, Paul has been a leading voice at the Family Law Institute of the State Bar of Georgia and other statewide seminars, delivering more than thirty presentations on subjects ranging from jurisdictional disputes under the UCCJEA and Hague Convention to child support guidelines, equitable division, business valuation, and trial tactics — frequently alongside sitting judges, fellow practitioners, and mental health professionals. He has also authored articles for The Family Law Review, the publication of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
Paul is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, one of a select group of family law attorneys statewide admitted to this prestigious organization of matrimonial specialists. Recognized repeatedly for his excellence in the field, he has been named a Super Lawyer every year since 2008, a Legal Elite attorney by Georgia Trend Magazine, and one of the Best Lawyers in America.
Originally from Metro Atlanta, Georgia, Paul graduated cum laude from Georgia State University in 1991 and earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1996.
